description
This ship was to have been the first of a class of four tank landing ships, but the program was cut to one unit. In 1980, the CAKABEY was redesignated as a dual minelayer/tank landing ship. As a landing ship, she could embark 400 troops, nine M-48 tanks and 10 jeeps, plus two LCVP landing craft in davits.
