The patrol craft was ordered on Nov. 27, 2002, with an option for a second unit (for Mediterranean service). She replaced the TOURNE-PIERRE (PM-28) in Cherbourg.

The craft is named for the Titan goddess of divine law, order and customs in Greek mythology.

Active. The THEMIS is based in at Cherbourg in Lower Normandy.
