These patrol craft were built in the Soviet Union specifically for transfer to Cuba. Originally, two were transferred in February 1985 and two in September 1985. Two of the four that were transferred have been stricken. They are different from the Stenkas used by the Soviet KGB Maritime Border Troo ps since they are not fitted with torpedo tubes or sonar.
