This is a three-masted barque training ship.

The SIMON BOLIVAR is similar to the Ecuadorian GUAYAS , the Mexican CUAUHTEMOC and Colombian GLORIA sail training ships.

She was refitted during 2007/2008. The ship's highest mast is 131 ft 9 in (40.2 m) tall.
