This ship was specifically built for Syria for use as a training ship (AX). She was completed without the usual minesweeping gear and ASW ordnance. She arrived in Syria in January 1985. She was employed as a training ship until the early 1990s when she was converted to an oceanographic research shi p (AGOR). The hull is now completely painted white.

Active and based at Latakia. The ship is in reasonably good condition.
