This ship is a large, steel-hulled, oceangoing tug, many of which saw extensive combat service in World War II in the U.S. Navy. This vessel was transferred to Turkey on Oct. 30, 1972, and purchased outright on Aug. 15, 1973. There are many sisters active in other navies.
