These vessels are primarily used as personnel transports, but they can also be used as ambulance craft. Prototypes pendant 101 and 102 (since discarded) were delivered in 1994. Pendant 103 was commissioned on Aug. 15, 1995; the last unit was commission in 1998. A total force of 72 was planned, but only 53 were actually completed. The 53rd unit, Kbv-414, was ordered for the coast guard.
