The AN/SQS-39 active/passive search and attack sonar is the AN/SQS-29 sonar with the added capability of steered directional transmission (SDT). SDT provides the sonar with continuous target tracking once the target has been located using rotational directional transmission (RDT) (see database entry on the SQS-29). The maintainability and reliability kit (MARK) is also provided.
