The Canadian Towed Array Sonar System (CANTASS) provides long-range passive detection and classification of enemy submarines.

The CANTASS consists of a "dry end," the powerful AN/UYS-501 signal processor utilizing a 68020 central executive processor and the AN/UYQ-501 SHINPADS display system, as well as a U.S.-built "wet end," the AN/SQR-19 towed array sensor and handling system (see separate database entry).
