The AN/BQG-4 Passive Underwater Fire-control Feasibility System (PUFFS) was a submarine sonar for torpedo fire control. It consisted of three fin-like sonar domes on the upper deck. It was fitted in several older classes of U.S. submarines, with the last (DARTER/SS-576) having been retired in 1989.
The PUFFS concept provided for high-accuracy passive ranging through the correlation of signals received by multiple arrays fitted to the submarine.
