One of a family of early-warning surveillance radars, the TRS 2630 Griffon is a short-range air defense system (SHORADS) radar. It is similar to the TRS 2620 Gerfaut in its characteristics, but has a slightly longer detection range for combat aircraft. A coherent pulse-Doppler signal is emitted and tracked automatically. The system maintains a memory bank that stores rotary wing patterns, enabling identification of hovering or moving helicopters as allied or enemy targets....
