The JLG-43 is a nodding heightfinder radar of similar design to the Soviet Cake series. Although not designed as a mobile system, it can be transported in two large trucks.
The system uses an orange peel parabolic reflector antenna that scans for elevation in incremental steps, or nods. The 2D radar provides only azimuth and height data and is typically paired with other air search radars, such as the JLP-40, that provide range for a complete air picture.
