Shield is a decoy dispensing system for use against anti-ship missiles, forming an essential part of layered defense in scenarios where radar-, hybrid- or IR-homing missiles are attacking.
The system can be manually operated separately or interfaced with a more comprehensive EW suite on surface ships. There are two types of rounds: P6 IR decoys and P8 chaff rockets.
