The Long-Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) is a hailing and warning device designed to provide clear, directed communications over long distances.
The LRAD directs a cone of sound in a beam of 15 to 30 degrees. Outside of the beam, sound rapidly fades away. Behind the LRAD, sound pressure levels (SPL) do not exceed 100 decibels.
The system can also be integrated with the Phraselator, a hand-held voice translation device, allowing the user to project messages in multiple languages.
