The AN/ALR-50 is a radar warning receiver (RWR) designed to detect and analyze missile launch and guidance signals associated with SA-2, SA-3 and SA-6 surface-to-air missiles. Design based on the AN-APR-27.
When hostile firing and guidance is detected, the system activates both visual and aural signals to the pilot. The ALR-50 works with the ALR-45 RWR, and when integrated with the ALR-56 , the combined suite is known as "PRIDE."
