description
The Passive Infrared Airborne Track Equipment (PIRATE) is a forward-looking infrared (FLIR)/infrared search-and-track (IRST) system developed for the Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft.
It operates passively, detecting the heat of different targets, increasing the fighter's tactical capabilities, including the potential to detect stealth targets. The PIRATE is fully integrated with the Eurofighter 's weapon systems.
