The AN/APQ-174/186 multi-mode radar (MMR) family is used by aircraft to lower the probability of detection by enemy forces. The AN/APQ-174/186 provides terrain following and terrain avoidance for a range of military aircraft. It allows safe flight down to a 100-ft (30 m) clearance at night, in adve rse weather and in high-threat environments.
