GD is a colorless liquid with a colorless vapor at 20 deg C (68 deg F). While Tabun (GA) has a slightly fruity odor, GD possesses a slight camphor-like odor. Used as a fast-acting, lethal casualty agent.
G-series nerve agents include tabun (GA), sarin (GB), soman (GD) and cyclosarin (GF). GF was not discovered until 1949. Soman was given the identifier GD after World War II, as GC was already in medical use.
