KILO-class submarines are modern diesel-electric submarines built in Russia and exported to a number of countries with considerable success. The hull form is similar to the U.S. ALBACORE (AGSS-569) tear-drop design, and is doubled-hulled. The KILO design is slower than many contemporary designs.
