The OSAs are high-speed ships of Soviet origin. Several OSA-I and OSA-II craft were transferred from the Soviet Union to Bulgaria over a period of years. The remaining OSA-1 unit was built in the early 1960s and transferred to Bulgaria in 1972.

Only BURYA remains in active service.
