Mk 36 Destructor series bottom mines

The Mk 36 Destructor series of U.S. Navy aircraft-laid shallow-water bottom mines began as conversions of Mk 80 series bombs during the Vietnam War. The conversion included the installation of a modular arming kit containing an arming device, explosive booster and magnetic-influence firing device.

The Mk 36 is a modified Mk 82 500-lb (227-kg) bomb. It can be laid to a depth of 299 ft (91 m).
