The Mk 8 was an outdated, heavyweight anti-ship torpedo in limited use in British submarines. Course and depth were preset before launch and the torpedo was free-running (i.e., targeting data cannot be changed after launch). The magnetic influence fuze was of a compensated coil rod type.
This torpedo was originally designated Mk VIII; the designation Mk 8 is generally used.

No longer in production or service.
Developed in the 1920s and operational from about 1928.
