The A184 is the Italian navy's standard wire-guided, heavyweight torpedo for surface combatant and submarine use. It can operate in both shallow and deep waters.
Italian submarines use the B.512/3 torpedo tube; surface ships use the fixed B.516/A tube, which is often stern-mounted (either in the transom or on the fantail).
