The 53-56KE is a wake-homing torpedo designed for use by the Russian navy and export customers.
Consisting of six sections, the torpedo is tipped by a rounded nose cone with wake-homing equipment.
Behind the nose is the warhead, containing a proximity fuze sensor, detonators and a 1,150 lb (520 kg) explosive charge.
The third section contains the oxygen tank, air flask, kerosene fuel tank and a water tank, which are used to drive the torpedo's thermal power plant.
