The PMR-2 is equipped with acoustic detection and classification systems. It can determine the targets course and depth and optimize an intercept trajectory before launching its rocket.
The PMR-2 entered Russian service in 1975. The Naval Institute Guide to World Naval Weapon Systems (2006) reported that it was still in service.
