description
The Destructor series of U.S. Navy aircraft-laid bottom mines began as conversions of Mk 80 series bombs during the Vietnam War. The conversion included the installation of a modular arming kit containing an arming device, explosive booster and magnetic-influence firing device.
The Mk 41 was a modified Mk 84 2,000-lb (908-kg) bomb. It could be laid to a depth of 299 ft (91 m).

No longer in service.
Initial operational capability (IOC) was reached in the 1960s.
