The Trident II D-5 submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) is a significantly more capable version of the Trident I C-4. The Trident II was the first SLBM to have a hard target kill capability. It is estimated that a D-5 W88 warhead has an 88 percent kill probability against a target hardened to 7,200 psi (506 kg/sq cm).
