Type 79 anti-tank missile

Country of Origin: Japan

The Type 79 tube-launched missile is used both in the anti-tank role and against landing craft of amphibious assault forces.

The missile is carried in a factory-sealed container. It has a cylindrical body and cruciform pop-out steerable foreplanes indexed in line with pop-out stabilizers at the rear.

When being fired, the missile is placed on a tripod-supported launcher that contains the firing control device, tracking mechanism and sight unit.

The weapon is in service.
