The Type 12 surface-to-ship missile (SSM) is a coastal defense guided munition designed and manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan to replace the Type 88 SSM. The new weapon features improved targeting capabilities, target discrimination, command-and-control function, reduced hit point variation and shortened reload time as well as a slightly greater range.
