The AGM-158C Long-Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) was originally a technology program led by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to develop and demonstrate standoff anti-ship strike capabilities and reverse the Navy's surface strike capability shortcomings. It was to build on technologies developed through the Hypersonic Flight (HyFly) program (see separate record).
