There are more Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) than any other U.S. strategic missile in service, with 400 operational in fixed silos as of 2019. The Minuteman force numbered 1,000 at its height. It was the first solid-fuel rocket ICBM and the first with multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicles (MIRVs).
The earliest version was the single-warhead Minuteman I, none of which remain in service. One variant is still deployed: the LGM-30G Minuteman III....
