The KN-09 is a North Korean 300-mm multiple launch rocket system (MLRS). The system may be based on the Russian BM-30 Smerch, Chinese A-100 or North Korea's earlier 240-mm MLRS.
The rocket is propelled by a standard composite-type solid fuel with a range of 140 mi (220 km) and a top speed of around Mach 5.2.
