The RPU-14 was a towed 16-rail 140-mm multiple rocket launcher using the same rocket as the BM-14-16 and BM-14-17 launchers. It was usually towed by a 4 x 4 GAZ-66 truck.
The weapons fired the M-14-OF high-explosive fragmentation, M-14D smoke and GB chemical rockets. These World War II-era Soviet multiple rocket launchers designated as BM-14 were also called "Katyushas" (see BM-13-16 entry). A post-World War II example called a "Katyusha" is the BM-21 Grad.
