The Hatf-5 ("Deadly") is a medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) also known as the Ghauri-1. The name is derived from the rulers of the 12th-century Ghurid Sultanate that spanned present-day Afghanistan, Pakistan and northern India.
The weapon was likely developed from the North Korean-designed No-dong missile (see separate record).
