The Guided Bomb Unit-28/B (GBU-28/B) laser-guided bomb (LGB) was developed specifically to attack Iraqi bunkers during the 1991 Persian Gulf War. It consists of a BLU-113 5,000-lb (2,268 kg) laser-guided bomb with a heavy penetrating warhead paired with a modified Paveway III guidance unit and tail assembly.
The GBU-28 became known as the "bunker buster" of the U.S. bomb inventory during the Persian Gulf War.
