The British Sky Flash semi-active radar (SAR) homing air-to-air missile (AAM) was a highly capable weapon.
Sky Flash outwardly resembled the U.S. AIM-7E-2 Sparrow III AAM, on which its airframe was based, but it had a British-designed, full inverse monopulse seeker and solid-state transmitter; fuze; autopilot; and power supply unit. The Marconi seeker was intended to give the missile excellent snap-down and snap-up performance.
