The Chinese Pen Lung 2 (PL-2, Air Dragon 2) infrared (IR) air-to-air missile (AAM) is a copy of the Russian AA-2 Atoll, which in turn was a virtual duplicate of the U.S. AIM-9 Sidewinder. As with the Sidewinder, the PL-2 has "rollerons" set in the cruciform tail surfaces that are turned by the slip stream and gyro-stabilize the missile.
