The Maitri short-range surface-to-air missile (SR-SAM) system is being developed for the Indian armed forces by India's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and European missile firm MBDA.
If it takes place, this would be MBDA's first co-development project outside of its core partner nations. Plans call for Bharat Dynamics to produce the missile, with an Indian radar to be utilized for search and tracking.
The Maitri would replace a number of aging Russian missiles...
