The British Javelin is a shoulder-fired, short-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system. It is a development of the Blowpipe SAM and outwardly resembles the earlier missile. Thee Javelin's rear set of control surfaces, as in the Blowpipe, are mounted on a ring and housed in the forward half of the transport container. The canard guidance fins rotate around the missile body, permitting "twist and steer" maneuvering said to be very responsive.
