The VS-AT4 is a conventional, pressure-fuzed anti-tank mine. Similar to other Italian pneumatic pressure fuzes, the VS-AT4 is very effective against blast countermeasures. It is fitted with an anti-lift mechanism to thwart manual removal once deployed.
The plastic body provides the mine with a non-metallic construction, limiting the metal content of the mine to fuze components. The mine can either be emplaced by hand or by a mechanical mine layer.
