The Type 72 is a Chinese minimum metal mine that comes in anti-personnel and anti-tank variants. It is derived from the Russian TM-46, although the fuzing mechanisms differ. The plastic casing makes the mine very difficult to detect.
The Type 72 is a "toe-popper" mine, which affects only the person who steps on it. Blast and fragment damage is distributed only into the legs of the victim.
