The Battlefield Extraction-Assist Robot (BEAR) is designed to rescue wounded soldiers in combat. The design is under development.
The robot is designed to locate, lift and rescue people in dangerous situations. It can lift heavy objects, including soldiers in full battle gear, and carry them long distances without becoming fatigued.
Prototypes have been able to lift 300 pounds (135 kg) with one arm and climb stairs while holding a human dummy.
