The Type 74 main battle tank (MBT) was built as a successor to the Type 61, which was retired in 1984. The Type 74 is now being replaced by the Type 10.
The most unusual feature of the Type 74 is its adjustable, hydro-pneumatic suspension system. The first and fifth road-wheel stations can be adjusted either by the commander or the driver. The available range allows the tank to be tilted 6 degrees forward and backward, 9 degrees left or right and r aised or lowered to a maximum...
