The SU-100 (Samochodnaya Ustanovka 100) is modeled on the Soviet T-34 tank chassis and uses the same 100-mm gun (D-10S) that was based on a pre-World War II naval gun.

Entering service in World War II, the SU-100 was the standard division support gun until the 1957 reorganization of the Soviet ground forces.
