The U.S.-built M24 light tank was put in service at the end of World War II. It has long been retired from U.S. service, but survived in a few countries.
The M24 was obsolescent in every respect. It had a relatively small 75-mm gun, was lightly armored, powered by two gasoline engines, had a relatively short range and needed a large crew.
