The Wolverine Heavy Assault Bridge (HAB), based on the M1A2 Abrams tank chassis, provides an in-stride gap-crossing capability to maneuver forces. Use of the M1 chassis allows Wolverine to keep up with forward maneuver forces, and be supplied from the same logistics infrastructure. The bridge is attached to the turret ring of a turretless M1 chassis. The bridge has no hydraulics, electronics or cables, and there are no hydraulics in the crew compartment.
