The successor to the AT-S, the ATS-59 is a fully tracked, medium tractor used for towing several types of Russian divisional artillery. The ATS-59G has a different appearance, but is essentially the same vehicle.

The ATS-59 entered service in the late 1950s. The ATS-59G was first seen by Western observers in November 1972. The vehicle is no longer in production.

Former users have included Egypt and Serbia; those militaries last reported the vehicle in service in 2006.
