The Armored Multipurpose Vehicle (AMPV) is a joint program between Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall to develop a family of protected vehicles in the 5- to 9-ton class. The vehicles are designed to meet the German army's Geschutzte Fuhrungs und Funktionsfahrzeuge 2 (GFF-2) requirement for a protected command and multirole vehicle.
