The VBR ("vehicule blinde leger a roues," or wheeled armored vehicle) was built from a steel monocoque hull with composite armor, armored glass, a slight V-shaped floor, anti-mine liner and nuclear/chemical collective filtration.
The VBR was developed to meet requirements for a vehicle with a similar layout to the VBL (see separate record), but with increased payload and greater electric power capacity.
