Komatsu Light Armored Vehicle

The Komatsu Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) is a 4 x 4 multipurpose vehicle in service with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) and Japan Air-Self Defense Force. Missions include reconnaissance, command-and-control and convoy escort. The vehicle has also been known as the Light Armored Combat Vehicle (LACV). It replaced the Hayate high mobility vehicle (HMV) and Type 73 small utility vehicle.
